Sherry Kaufman, director emerita
Sherry, Director of WPSN, arrived in the field of early childhood education by a rather unusual route. Sherry earned her B.A. in English Honors from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and graduated from University of Michigan Law School with a J.D. in 1983. Sherry practiced school law in various law firms and was an attorney with the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights. She worked full-time, part-time, and was an “at home mom” at various times while her three children were young. After returning to school to earn a M.A.T. she taught at Ravinia preschool and the Baker Demonstration school. Sherry earned her Certificate of Advanced Studies in Early Childhood Administration from National-Louis University.

In 2008, Sherry was awarded the Illinois Director Credential at the highest level from the llinois Network of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies. A proud parent of three young adults, Sherry believes that parenting is the most challenging job she has ever had.
